Board of Directors

The Emergent Village Directors serve three-year terms. The current board is:

Brian D. McLaren (emeritus) is an author, speaker, and activist. He’s written many books, including Generous Orthodoxy and The Secret Message of Jesus, and he serves on several boards, including Sojourners/Call to Renewal. Brian is an avid traveler and environmentalist, and you can find him online at brianmclaren.net.

Ivy Beckwith is the minister to children and families at the Congregational Church of New Canaan, Connecticut. She’s the author of Postmodern Children’s Ministry and a sought-after speaker and consultant. You can find her online at www.soulshepherds.com.

Tony Jones (ex officio, non-voting member) is the national coordinator of Emergent Village, and an author and speaker.

Heather Kirk-Davidoff serves as the Enabling Minister of the Kittamaqundi Community in Columbia, Maryland, an independent church in the tradition of Church of the Savior. She is married to Dan Kirk-Davidoff, a climate scientist, and together they are parents to three children and foster parents to one adult daughter. With her writing partner, Nancy Wood-Lyczak, Heather is the author of two books, Talking Faith (Chalice Press, 2004) and Dare to Dive In: Strategies and Resources for Involving Your Whole Church in Worship (Abingdon, 2006). Mark Oestreicher (chair) is the president of Youth Specialties, an organization that trains, encourages and resources youth workers. Marko worked with emergent to launch the emergentYS publishing line and the emergentYS national conventions. He blogs at www.ysmarko.com.

Chris Seay is the pastor of Ecclesia in Houston, Texas, and the author of many books. Currently, he is coordinating The Voice Project, a postmodern rendering of the biblical narrative.

Karen Ward is the Abbess and pastor/priest of Church of the Apostles in Seattle, Washington, and a pioneer in the emerging church movement.

David Robertson is the producer for the Emergent Podcasts. He is also husband to Beth, father to Rachel and Hannah, partner in a technology services company, elder in the PC(USA), middle school leader, avid reader of books, and (recently) a rider of motorcycles.
